2015 European Veterans Championship
2015 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP VETERANS WINNERS (FRANCE, GREAT BRITAIN, RUSSIA & NORWAY)
National teams with players ranging in age 40 years and older entered European Championship Veterans on 27-28 March 2015 in Puget-sur-Argens in southeastern France, close to the French Riviera.
Veterans Championships are an opportunity for people from different countries to connect in a place where sports stories and legends are made and where memorable moments occur. The sport of Paintball is something wonderful, however one must always bear in mind that veterans competitions are not only forums where participants compete and test their abilities, but also refresh their memory, meet old sports friends and challenge the limits of the possible.
This year Championship Veterans had assembled a record number of participants – 10 National teams.
The teams were placed in two groups of four teams each, to play the remaining three in their group. The two best-placed teams from each group advanced to the Semifinals.
Besides sitting in the busy grandstands and watching live games, everyone could follow the high quality live streaming of the Championships on the CPL field via the Paintball Media webcast (www.paintballwebcast.com).
The temperature in an already warm Puget reached unbelievable heights on the final day at the European Veterans Championship. The battles for top places at the medal rostrum brought the best from already inspired competitors and we witnessed some great matches before the curtain came down.
In Puget at the European Championship for Veterans it was the French team who was on form, brushing aside their opponents in front of their excited spectators. While waiting for the final game, French and British Veterans would have heard the cheers from the crowded stands. The final day produced a few upsets, especially for Norway and Russia, struggling to take bronze.
France turned out to be the undisputed “No. 1”, followed by Great Britain. Norway finished fourth, leaving Russia third on the podium.
Cheering of the Winners on the podium wasn`t the final step of this year Championship. There was a Poster Signing Ceremony organized for the Veterans Winners in Basildon, during the European Championship Men`s. Because of the domestic location, we had the Runners-up in a full squad – Great Britain National team signing posters with their pictures on it! Every fan of the Great Britain Veterans team was happy having the signed poster from their favorite team.
We will keep this tradition in the future, giving more fun to the spectators and honoring our Winners!
We would like to congratulate all the participants, the National Teams and all the National Federations that were involved in the organization. Thanks must go to the Euroref guys for all their hard work, and those who helped to produce the very best paintball atmospheres – the spectators! And also we are grateful to Millennium Series for their help in organisation of such wonderful event!
